Kissmetrics recently published an awesome infographic about Bounce Rates that we just had to share!

"It’s very likely that you know the bounce rate for your website. But, do you know anything about how it’s calculated, what your industry’s average bounce rate is or even what factors affect your bounce rate? Inspired by common questions that we’ve heard, this infographic is meant to give you answers and some tips to help you improve your bounce rate."

You can download the PDF or view an enlarged version of this Infographic directly from KissMetrics.

Being an entrepreneur is not always easy.

There are days when you are going to be up and probably more days when you will be down.

Just remember my friend.....

If you give letters A to Z values of 1 to 26 and assign the appropriate numbers to the word "knowledge," it adds up to 96.

The words "hard work" adds up to 98.

But, the word "ATTITUDE" adds up to 100!!

Moral of the story, knowledge and hard word can get you close but, it is your attitude that will get you where you want to go in life and in business.

Welcome back to our final day of the Blogging Series!

Last Friday when we released our latest newsletter, we discussed the importance of writing great content for your blog.

On Monday we learned how to create blog content using keywords. On Tuesday we learned to write How-to Articles. Wednesday we learned how to use the media for blogging inspiration. Yesterday we learned about writing reviews. So let’s move on to....

5. Your Customers

Your customers will give you tons of great inspiration for content!

  •  Go through your emails and look for questions about products. Use these questions to create a weekly or daily column.

Example - You sell dog collars and customer asks you which size she should buy for her dog. This is a great blog article!
  • Create a Weekly or Daily Column like the newspapers do it

Example - I will be starting an ask Shawna Column (aka blog post). Readers send in questions about their Yahoo Store, SEO, conversions, etc. I answer the question on our blog and everyone gets to learn.
  • Ask your customers to contribute to your blog

Have a dog store? Have customers send in pictures of their dogs wearing their fancy new collars.

Have a makeup or hair products store? Have customers send in pictures all prettied up and even explain how they got the look.

Have a quilt or knitting store? Have customers send in completed projects and/or submit tutorials.

Have a camping store? Have customers send in pictures of their last adventure.

Have a store that sells to children? Have moms share pictures of their children, challenges they have ever faced, and how they worked through them.

As you can see, there are many different sources of ideas for great blogging out there. You just have to know where to find them.

I hope this series has helped you to come up with new and excited ideas. If it has, let us know :) Leave us a comment below and if you have ideas you would like us to write about... let us know that too!

Have an awesome weekend and I look forward to talking with you again on Monday :))

Welcome to Day 4 of our Blogging Series!

We know it is tough to come up with new and exciting blogging ideas and we hope you have learned more ways to add great content for your blog.

On Monday we learned how to create blog content using keywords. On Tuesday we learned how to write How-to Articles. Yesterday we learned how to use the media for blogging inspiration. So let’s move on to....

4. Reviews

Everybody loves looking at reviews. In fact many shoppers before buying locally hop online to checkout product reviews.

Think about the last time that you made a purchase of over $50.
  • Did you do a little research online?
  • Did you compare prices?
  • Did you read Product Reviews?
  • Did the reviews influence your buying decision?
I recently made a purchase from Amazon after looking extensively at the product reviews.

While I was waiting for the item to arrive, I started digging deeper into the reviews and discovered many of them were obviously fake. I dug deeper and found that other people felt the same way as well.

I was so upset knowing that I made my purchasing decision based on fake product reviews that I cancelled the order before it was delivered. I am now very leery of all reviews from Amazon and no longer trust them as my "Go To” source for reliable information.

Moral of the story - When you are writing your product reviews, website reviews or any other review - tell it like it is! If you sell a product that you don't think is nearly as good as another product for twice the amount of money... explain, compare, contrast, and be honest.

One site that does a phenomenal job with product reviews is Rob Snell will walk up to his brother and partner Steve Snell with a tape recorder in hand. He asks every single question he can possibly think of; even if Rob already knows the answer. Steve gives honest and constructive feedback about all of the products listed on their site and has become the "Go To" source for dog hunting supplies.

Now let's go look at your products.

Can you provide honest, trustworthy non-basis opinions?  Then head on over to your blog and start writing awesome reviews!

Make sure to come back tomorrow for our fifth and final installment of 5 awesome blogging ideas.

Welcome back to another fun day of learning great blogging ideas!

Monday we learned all about using keywords in Part 1 of Writing Great Content - 5 Awesome Blogging Ideas.

Yesterday we learned about creating "how to" articles in Writing Great Content - 5 Awesome Blogging Ideas Part 2.

Now let's get started with....

3. Media -

First, let's look at the definition of the word media -

"The means of communication, as radio and television, newspapers, and magazines, that reach or influence people widely."

So now that we understand what we are looking for, here are some new ideas for blogging:
  • Check out your local paper for any great stories to share that have to do with the business you are in.

Example - You sell pepper spray and the local government is trying to get them banned. Is this a good idea or a bad idea?
  • Any new books that have come out related to your industry? Review and share your thoughts.

Example - You sell sports memorabilia and Peyton Manning just came out with a biography.
  • Watch any TV shows that show off one of your products? Discuss and brag about it!

Example - You sell quilting supplies and Fons and Porter show off this awesome new iron.
  • Find a magazine article that your customers are likely to enjoy? Discuss that article on your blog.

Example - You sell manly toys like ammo; grab a magazine like Field and Stream. You will have tons of great topics to discuss!
  •  Found another blog that your readers might enjoy? Share the blog and explain why you love it so much.

Example - You sell items for children, find some really great Mommy Blogs and tell your readers why you love them.
  • Check Google Trends for interesting tidbits and news that people are searching for. Since my Golden Retriever is STILL next to me wanting love, let's use that pet store again as an example.

Example - I go to Google Trends and enter the word dog. Then I click on more news reports. I get a great article about a dog surviving 53 days in the desert. GREAT story for readers. It has the ohhhh and ahhhh factor they love.
Now I know you just thought of 3 or more new ideas for a blog.

Find a piece of paper and write them all down. Now find a little box and put those ideas inside the box. Next time you get stuck and need a great idea, reach inside your magic box of ideas and pull out the next great idea!

I'll be back tomorrow with Part 4 :)

Yesterday we gave you Part 1 of Writing Great Content - 5 Awesome Blogging Ideas.

Today we are ready for Part 2 because we know that some days... it can be a real pain in the you know what to come up with great ideas to blog about. So let's get started!

2. How To Articles -

This morning before heading to the YMCA for my morning swim, I did a little research on swimming freestyle. I am trying to become faster!

I find a wide variety of websites and videos.

A few of the sites I stumble upon are really awesome!

Check out H20 Audio. They teamed up with an Olympic medalist for USA Swimming. She provides tips on how to do different strokes, keep your body lined up correctly, etc. This is great education that does not try to sell me anything.

I also find a really cool site called Swim Smooth. This is another store that provides lots of GREAT information and makes me want to purchase from them.

Actually, I came back home and did make a purchase from them. They showed me some interesting articles on how to perfect my freestyle stroke using a special snorkel. I was in!

Now it's time to take a look at the products you sell.

Can you provide how to articles?

Let's go over a few ideas:

Sell dog supplies - How to train your dog to lie down.

Sell jewelry - How to clean your jewelry like the pros.

Sell furniture - How to instantly redecorate a small space.

Sell toys - How to get your children to pick up their own toys.

Sell fabric - How to sew a perfect seam

You get the idea and if you don't... try this one!

Head over to

Enter your main keyword phrase into the search box and take a look at the articles that come up. This should give you some new ideas that you may not have thought about.

Just remember.... do not plagiarize. Give credit where credit is due and don't be afraid to share links.

Now go blog your own how to article and I will be back tomorrow with 5 Awesome Blogging Ideas Part 3.

Friday we released our latest newsletter discussing transforming habits to work smarter not harder.

The first step was to get into the habit of writing great content each morning before we do anything else.

Here are the two questions I get asked the most during my coaching appointments:

1. Where do we put such great content?

Our blog.

2. This is the big one....

GREAT Question!

You want to use the 80/20 rule. Only 20% of your blog posts should actually push the sale. The other 80% should be fun or educational.

To help you get started, this week we are giving you 5 Awesome Blogging Ideas.

Let's start with the first one!

1. Keywords -

Head over to your favorite keyword research tool and you will find lots of great blogging ideas! Let me show you :)

Since my Golden Retriever is sitting right here nagging me to pet her, I will use a dog store as an example. Let's say that we sell dog and cat collars and we love selling dog collars with bling for beautiful Goldies like her. Let's do some research!

Do a little search for "bling dog collars" and let's see what we learn:

Great info but, let's get some really great blogging ideas! Click Global Monthly Searches twice so we see smallest to largest. Now let's look again.

Check it out! We just found 5 really great ideas for our blog that our customers will love!
  • Best dog collars for labs - Show different collars and show readers why you choose these collars for labs and other large dogs. Make sure to explain and compare the different types of collars. Show the good, the bad, and the ugly. This will get your readers to trust you, like you, and buy from you.
  • Fancy dog stuff - You can make this a super fun blog post and include your customers too! Show off dogs that look super fancy. Maybe at a wedding or prom. Make sure you get plenty of ohhh and ahhh pictures in this post!
  • Fun cat collars - Another post that would be great to include your customers. Whenever I take my pets to the groomers, they always come home with some fun collar around their neck. Go to and find photos if you have to. Pinterest is another great site for finding great pictures of animals.
  • Cheap designer dog carriers - Turn this into an educational piece. Why should we not use the words cheap and dog carriers in the same sentence? Would it fall apart? Would our dog get hurt using a cheap dog carrier? Is it ok to buy a cheap dog carrier? What do we need to look for when buying a dog carrier? What size should we pick out?
  • Unique dog stuff - Show off celebrities that have great unique dog stuff. Do a search in Google Images for celebrity dogs. You will be amazed at what you will find!
Make sure to print these lists! Use a highlighter to mark off keyword phrases as you go and continue to work off your list for new ideas.

    Happy almost St. Patty's Day!

It's been awhile since we have had a newsletter here at 1 Choice but, today is a perfect day for one and we are discussing... habits!

I have been reading the most fascinating book about habits! This book has changed my life and just about every decision that I make on a daily basis.

The most important lesson I have learned is that most decisions we make on a day-to-day basis are not made by choice. We are simply following the habits we have created for ourselves.
