I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Memorial Day is a time to honor those that have served yesterday, today, and will continue to protect our great country tomorrow.

Every year we get together with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and give back to those who have helped us so much.

IAVA’s mission is to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. We like that... a lot!

So here is the deal!

Go to the IAVA.org website and make a donation of $25 or more and we will send you a gift certificate for $100.

Use this gift card to make programming upgrades to your website or add a new blog that matches your design.

Make a donation of $100 or more and we will give you $500 off a new design for your Yahoo Store.

You can make a straight donation or purchase one of their many great products!

After you make your donation, forward us a copy of your receipt and we will take it from there :)

Easy!

That's exactly what we wanted! It helps our veterans and it helps you get ready for the upcoming holidays at the same time.

Wait...Did I say holidays?

Yes! We are only 5 months away from the biggest online shopping days. The time to get ready is NOW.

So head on over to IAVA Store and let's make a difference together :)

Google's launched an algorithmic improvement to their ranking that impacted 11.8% of their search queries.

According to Google,
"This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on."
What constitutes a high quality website?

Friday Google released a new blog post with guidance on how to build a high quality website and today on Ecom Experts, we will be discussing how you can apply these guidelines to your online store.

Monday on Ecom Experts, we discussed 5 Ways You Could Double Your Sales. You can listen to the replay below but, I wanted to dig a little deeper into our very first tip - Your Blog!

Blogs typically have:
  • 55% more visitors than websites
  • 97% more inbound links than websites
  • 434% more indexes pages than websites

As many of you know, we have built a brand new store 3 months ago using only Social Media to bring in sales. We built this site to show owners, now what? Now that you have your website, how do you get traffic, sales, and conversions?

The results have been AMAZING.

Let me give you another peak at our sales as of today.

We are documenting the entire process and teaching people what they need to do after building their website.

Our blog has been essential in helping us to grow our new business.

Blogs allow you to use social media to its maximum potential because it creates a home base for you to bring all your social media efforts back to.

While your store may be sales oriented, your blog will help you:
  • Soft-sell your products
  • Provide Insight
  • Provide constant link building to your website
  • Becoming a resource of credibility
  • Show off your personality
  • Have conversations with your customers
  • Engage with your customers and create relationships.
The Problem I See
Many store owners get started with blogging, feel like they aren't seeing any results, and suddenly stop.

This is the worst thing you could do. You just ruined all the hard work you have done. If nothing else, Google is reading your blog if you link it up correctly to your store. Customers are looking at your blog to make sure you are still alive. The moment you give up, you sales will go down.

    Keep blogging!!
    • Build a calendar making sure you research your seasonal items and holiday sales. Use Google Calendar to help you remember what you are going to write about on which day.

    • Research keywords that your customers are using and create discussions based on those keywords.

    • Remember the 80/20 rule and only OCCASIONALLY push a sale. The other 80% should be educational, conversational, and creative!

Remember this always and put a sticky note on your monitor so you remember this every day-

People have to like, know, and trust you before they will purchase from you.
    Air Date: May 2, 2011

Shawna updates us on the Now What Project, which to date has had over $12,000 in sales in just 3 months, increasing sales from March to April by over 150 percent.

    P.S.

Thank you Market Motive for allowing me to share the wonderful information I am learning in my Social Media Master Certification Course with our readers. If you want to join in on the fun, I asked them for a coupon code for our customers just starting out. Boy did they come through!! Use coupon code MM99 and get your first month for just $99 ($200 off!). Love them :)))
