Hi Everyone,

I have been getting lots of requests and letters asking when our webinar replay will be online. Normally these are available within a few hours and I want to thank you for being so patient while we attempt to get the Ecommerce SEO Webinar on our website.

I thought I would take a moment and give you an update.

As most of you know, I moved to the boonies. Love it here, hate the internet. I am unable to do online webinars from home like I use to. Unfortunately at home, is where I have all of my great recording software and equipment.

We have a T1 line being installed the first of June and I hope to be back and running again!

In the meantime,
  • I go into the office
  • Record using Gotowebinar
  • Come home and rerecord using Camtasia Studio
  • Do some quick editing
  • Wait a few hours for the file to upload
This time, the process has not been quite so easy.

I am still working on it and will try to have it up as quickly as possible. Then I will be able to work on those other videos for you as well.

The new videos that I will be creating will cover:
  • Setting up a blog using Blogger
  • Having your new blog have the URL
  • Setting up a RSS Feed for your new blog
  • Enabling your visitors to have your blog postings emailed to them

comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released its Q1 2010  U.S. retail e-commerce sales estimates, which showed that online retail spending neared $34 billion for the quarter, up 10 percent versus year ago. The strong acceleration represented the first time growth rates reached double-digits since the second quarter of 2008.

“The first quarter returned the U.S. retail e-commerce market to healthy double-digit growth rates,” said comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni. “While these spending gains provide reason for optimism, we should note that upper-income households are currently shouldering much of the growth. Should the economy falter in the second half of the year and upper-income consumers return to a savings mode, we could still see growth decelerate. But for the time being, this momentum is encouraging.”

Other highlights from Q1 include:

  • Growth in the first quarter was predominantly driven by upper-income consumers, with spending among the $100,000+ household income segment up 14 percent.
  • Pureplay (online-only) retailers continued to gain e-commerce spending market share from multichannel retailers.
  • Larger online retailers continued to generate higher growth rates than smaller retailers, but the smaller retailers are finally beginning to see positive growth once again.

Today I want to show you how to create SEO friendly page urls for your Yahoo! Store.

For most Yahoo! Store owners working with a manufacturer or drop shipper, they receive one database file that contains all the product information. Then they receive a folder with all the product images.

About 99% of the time, the image names match the product code.

For instance, if my green sweater was being sold online we might have a code of 123. The image name that matched this green sweater would also be 123.gif or 123.jpg

This works really great for most Yahoo! Store owners. They can use the database upload feature and also zip all those images in one file and use the multiple image upload feature as well.

When you upload your database, the Yahoo! Store will create your items with the page id of those codes.

One problem, that means that your store product pages url will also be the product code.

For instance, if we go back to our green sweater, the page id created would be 123.html

Our customers would come to

Now 123.html is not real customer friendly or seo friendly for most products. I don't care what the code is for my sweater, I want a green sweater.

Wouldn't that be better for the page id to say green-sweater? Then my url would be

The problem that most store owners face, they change the product url but then they cannot use the multiple image upload feature. The page ids do not match the images.

So today I am going to show you how to change those product ids, easily convert multiple images to match those new product ids, and create super seo friendly product urls.

Have you ever had a bunch of files you needed to change - fast?
  • Change file names from underscores to hyphens (yahoo_store.gif to yahoo-store.gif)
  • Add a prefix to all of your file names (store-design.gif to 1c4-store-design.gif)
  • Delete certain text from all file names (1c4-yahoo-store.gif to yahoo-store.gif)
I have been using File Renamer Basic for over a year now to do my hard work and I love it!

I have created the video below showing you step by step how to change those file names - and do it FAST.

You will LOVE how easy it really is!

Today the headlines read - "Obama Doesn't Like iPads."

You know, I really don't like the news. They seem to have a distorted view on what really happens.

Here is the original statement from Obama:
“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.”

I may not agree with what he says all the time but, I definitely agree with this statement and so do many others.

From Blue Phoenix NYC-  - The potential to distract is there. It really depends how disciplined you are--information is so overwhelming these days.

The truth is, the web has a magic power over people. One minute you are looking up keywords, then you find something you never heard of, you look that up which leads you to a book store, and then you are watching funny videos on YouTube.

Twitter and Facebook are two great places to find information as well. Yet, how many times have you attempted to do one thing and an hour later you haven't moved on to something else?

The information and the messages CAN get lost if you are not careful. This is when information becomes a distraction and becomes more a form of entertainment.

The best thing we can do as store owners is to manage our time wisely.

Choose what time of days you will search for information and choose how long you will spend gathering that information.

If you are going to market on Twitter, understand how long you are going to spend on Twitter and what times of day will you be visiting.

I have learned that if I come into the office and do not read any emails, view any Twitter messages, or log into Facebook. The first thing I do is create my to do list and start with the most important priority of the day.

This helps me to focus on getting important tasks done immediately.
