For Yahoo Store owners, being able to get the Google Analytics code to work correctly was a major pain in the *&#.
In fact, most store owners had to use a third party tool in order to accurately track if a customer converted into a sale.
I am extremely happy to report that Google has made this MUCH easier for you.
Download this
Google Adwords Conversion Tracking Guide and make sure to pay attention to Page 8.
It specifically tells you how to set up Google Tracking code with Yahoo Stores.
If you do not have this set up, DO IT NOW.If you have Yahoo Web Analytics and think you should not use Google Analytics... WRONG
Remember, you are looking for trends and data so that you can make informed decisions.
The more data and information you have, the better decisions YOU can make.
Now make sure you have your code installed properly :)

On page 5 of the "Google Adwords Conversion Tracking Guide", it states that there are 2 requirements...
1) Approved and running Adwords Ads
2) Placement of the Google code snippet in the conversion page.
Shawna- Are you recommending that Yahoo Store owners implement this code if we aren't currently running Adwords? Will it still work?
I would hate to cancel my subscription to a 3rd Party tool if the Google Conversion tracker won't work unless I am running Adwords.
Can you provide any insight?
Does this guide apply to both Google Analytics and Coogle AdWords? I need to find out how to use Google Analytics but the guide seems to refer to Google AdWords code...
You actually do not have to use Google Adwords or Adsense to use these tools. This just provides great instructions :)
Thanks Shawna - I ended up following instructions at http://bit.ly/JgUhF ... which seemed to work great until the very end. I'm working on my second Yahoo store and thanks to you, I have learned a lot the second time. But anyway, I'm still new enough that I am not comfortable editing RTML templates like in his instructions, but I tried it anyway. He explains that you have to alter the google code somewhat and the RTML templates somewhat to find the keywords that convert. So toward the end of his document, he says to click on the nil link in the template before you click on Replace. I didn't see a nil link (maybe an older version of editor?) and I clicked on Replace anyway. In the source code of the published page, it doesn't look like it changed anything, but I'm wondering - did I screw up my site? Or did I make Google Analytics not work? Thanks again Shawna - hope you enjoyed San Jose! Jimmy @ www.amberplex.com
To be clear, Google Analytics and Google Conversion tracking codes are two completely different things. The conversion tracking code will show which paid AdWords keywords convert in AdWords only; for use in the AdWords administration tool.
Google Analytics will track traffic from all sources to any point in your checkout process that you wish to call a "goal". Google analytics will import your AdWords data for reporting, however it also reports on all sources of traffic, paid or organic, that arrives at your site.
Hi Shawna.
This looked good until I read Page 8 of the conversion tracking guide.
There is no way to access the Order Form to place the code into.
There is order processing but that has to do with How to process an order but nowhere is a place to get to the form.
What am I missing. Are these outdated instructions?
Go into your checkout manager and look under Page Configuration.
www.monitus.com offers really great how to tips for adding to your website as well.
I recently came across your post and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that it caught my interest and you've provided informative points. I will visit this blog often.
Thank you,

This does not show how to add Google Analytics. It shows how to ad Adwords Conversion tracking. That's something very different. I wish you had info on Google Analytics as that's what I was looking for and that's what it says at the top of this post.
