Yesterday we started with 6 Qualities That Make Information Valuable. With Yahoo Web Analytics, we have so much information right at our fingertips and the number one asset for any company is information.
Now that we understand what qualities make information valuable, we need to discuss how to add value to the information we are getting.
So again I turn to my textbook which references material from Tom Davenport and Larry Prusak and their book called, Information Ecology: Mastering the Information and Knowledge Environment. They explain how to add value to the information.
1. Pruning – Eliminating the obsolete, the irrelevant, and the inaccurate
2. Adding context – Summarizing, categorizing, analyzing, comparing, synthesizing, and concluding
3. Enhancing style through effective variation and interactivity, creative staging, and inspirational dramatization
4. Choosing the right medium for presentation and distribution to take advantage of the range of media available for information delivery.
It is very easy to get lost in all the information available with Yahoo Web Analytics. Make sure you are only looking at information that is relevant to the information you need. When adding context, you can categorize based on products, sections, advertisements, segments, etc. You have the ability for interactivity and you certainly have the right medium for presentation.
In other words, you have everything you need to make the information from Yahoo Web Analytics valuable to you and your company.
Use this information to increase your profits!
