In our last two articles we discussed what to do when
sales are down. Maybe we need to understand why sales are down as well.
Wal-Mart announced that they have seen their first
profit fall in the last decade. Many of our customers have stated that sales
have gone down as well. The reason? Chief executive Lee Scott said sales were
disappointing at Wal-Mart's US stores. Customers were making fewer shopping
trips to save gas, while Wal-Mart's own bills for fuel and utilities were up, he
said. "In the United States, customers tell us they are most concerned about gas
prices," Scott said in a pre-recorded message. "This has been consistent every
month this quarter."
Will the rising price of gasoline affect this year's
holiday shopping? Absolutely!! We fully believe that Internet sells will
skyrocket while brick and mortar businesses will decline. More and more
customers will see how easy purchasing online can be. They can shop at multiple
stores within minutes. They do not have to pay for gas to go shopping. Shopping
online is simple and requires zero gasoline. Online shoppers can also compare
prices with multiple stores all at once.
If your store carries what they are looking for at the
lowest price you will get the sale right? Not always. Online shoppers are still
a little eerie about giving out their credit card information online. Watch the
news in you will find one story after another of identity theft. If you want the
customer to use your site to purchase what they need, then you must provide the
customer what they need. Customers need a web site that looks professional as
well looks secure.
This is where 1 Choice comes in. We assist Yahoo store
owners in creating a web site that is not only search engine friendly but is
also customer friendly. You can spend a fortune on advertising but without of a
professional design your conversion rates will only go down.
Now is the time to prepare your store for the holiday
season. Remember that the search engines can take up to six to eight weeks to
visit your store and see the new search engine optimization. November is just
around the corner. Make sure your site is ready to go.
