Let's face it, running a business is hard. You are probably the salesperson, the shipping person, the complaint department, and the billing department as well.

In between all of this, we are expected to keep track of expenses, sales tax, and new tax laws too?

We will be discussing:
  • Why is it CRITICAL for sellers to track income and expenses?
  • What are key reports that ecommerce owners should look at?
  • What's up with the new 1099 law?
  • What's going on with Sales Tax Laws right now?
  • and much more!

Have you been hit by a Panda or drowned by a Penguin?

The new updates have been brutal!

Google has made several changes to their algorithm lately and many store owners are struggling with their traffic and sales. Store owners are worried that they may be hit even more when the next update is released.

Our goal with the Group SEO Coaching Program is to help you understand what makes a good quality website, and remove those fears so you are better prepared for the future.

The Program is now open for the next 48 hours and will close at 4:00 PM Eastern on Thursday May 10th.

Unfortunately, if all spots fill up before then, we will have to close up a little early. Make sure you check out this program right away, and if you like it...sign up!

Here is what you will get with the new Coaching Program:
  • Weekly To Do Lists helping you to avoid future problems with the search engines.
  • Monthly Reports giving you access to critical errors found on your website.
  • Monthly Reports giving you access to errors that search engines could penalize you for.
  • Monthly Ranking Reports so that you know where you rank in all search engines.
  • Competitor Reports so you know what they are doing and how they are doing it.
  • Weekly meetings where you can talk with me and ask questions specifically about your website.
  • and much more!

You can check out our new Group SEO Coaching Program by going to:

P.S.

Did you catch our last newsletter where we discussed using Long Tail Keywords and some of the major updates to Google's Algorithm?

I know you read the title twice and thought to yourself, "Surely, Shawna is mistaken!"

Sorry but, no.

Let's recap:

April 19th - Panda Update 3.5
April 24th - Penguin Update
April 26th - Panda Update 3.6

In a world where we used to seeing MAJOR updates occur every few years, this month we saw them just a few days apart.

We have seen sites go from zero to hero and hero to zero in the last two weeks.

As online store owners it is important that you understand:
  • What are all these changes?
  • What do they all mean?
  • How do they affect my store?
  • How do I avoid going from hero to zero?
Shawna - HELP!!
My first step in helping you to figure it all out started last week on our radio show Ecom Experts discussing Google Penguin Update, Negative SEO, and Link Warnings.

My second step will be today at 6:00 PM Eastern for another edition of Ecom Experts. We will be discussing the latest changes and tips with our friend Dave Davies from BeanStalk.

If you have questions that you want to submit ahead of time, you can do so at www.EcomQuestion.com

You can listen to our radio show live, ask questions, and chat with friends by going to:
http://www2.webmasterradio.fm/chat.html

Remember, we get started at 6:00 PM Eastern and I can't wait to see you there :)

P.S.

As requested (especially with all of these updates), I am starting a new Group SEO Coaching Program that will launch tomorrow afternoon. Registration will be cut off after 48 hours (or when we fill up) so make sure you are signed up for our newsletter!

According to Search Engine Land, almost 1 of every 5 Google searches include a rel=author within the first 100 results.

This is great news!

The bad news?

Most store owners don't know how to set up authorship to their content so that they can take advantage of this awesome marketing tool.

Why is it awesome? Let me show you!

I did a search on Google to learn more about the Penguin Update.

I get to see pictures of who the author and also see more of their articles. Instantly I feel better about my search results. I feel a connection and a warm fuzzy feeling.

Warm fuzzy feelings in ecommerce lead to higher conversion!

So how do we set this up?

First, you will need to create a Google Plus Profile. Make sure that you include a link to your store URL and your blog URL.

Second, head on over to the Google Authorship website to sign up your email and click on the verification link that they send you. **Important** You must verify you have an email address (such as shawna@yoururl.com) on the same domain as your content.

When you click the signup button after putting in your email address, it almost looks like nothing happens. However, you will see a yellow box on top letting you know that a confirmation email has been sent to your email address.

Once the email arrives, click on the link and you are taken to the following window:

Now I am going to check my blog to make sure all of my posts end with By Shawna Seigel.

Perfect! Now let's run a test by going to the Rich Snippets Testing Tool. Enter your blog address and click preview.

It tells us who the extracted Author/Publisher for this page is and they have it right! It is us. It also states,

"Are you the author? If you have an email with 1choice4yourstore.com and verified it with Google+, please enter your G+ profile to verify your authorship here"

So we enter in the url of our Google Plus Profile page and click verify.

All set and looking good!

Now it's time to go do yours :)

I recently had the experience of remembering one of the hardest parts of selling online - shipping.

I loved getting orders, making money, and talking with the customers.

However, many hours were spent preparing shipments, boxing shipments, labeling shipments, and running to the post office.

You continue to get more and more sales and you even bring in the family to help you ship more products. Maybe you even get to the point where you hire someone else to do this for you.

  • Is there a better way?

  • Is there an easier way?

  • Is there a more profitable way?

Perhaps.

Join me today at 6:00 PM Eastern for my radio show Ecom Experts as we discuss Fulfillment by Amazon. We are also going to learn about the many tools available to help you work smarter not harder.

Is this the right answer for everyone?

No but, it might be the right answer for you.

So come join us. You can listen live, chat with friends, and ask questions by going to:

Don't forget, we get started at 6:00 PM Eastern!

P.S.

Make sure you check out our newsletter showing you how to use Long Tail Keywords to get more sales! Part two is coming out THIS Friday!

Today I was catching up on my reading over at Search Engine Land and found a few stories I thought I would share :)

Dropped In Rankings? Google’s Mistake Over Parked Domains Might Be To Blame- The thing to look for here is the over-optimization penalty.

Too much SEO? Google's Working on an "Over-Optimization" Penalty For That - This is a must read.

How to Develop a Keyword Plan - Great article that goes along nicely with our newsletter on long tail keywords.

8 Products That Might Be On Yahoo's Chopping Block - Interesting thoughts. What do you think?

Home Depot to Correct Misleading Link Request - I find this article fascinating! Just when you think another big company things they can get away with cheating the search engines...wrong again!

No, Bing Doesn't Support Pagination Attributes to Consolidate Pages in a Series - Definitely worth reading if you have ANY Pagination on your website or even considering adding to your site in the near future.
